Fraudulent Emails and Invoices

Bogus Invoice
Recently, we’ve had questions regarding receiving an invoice similar to the one shown on the right. If you host your internet services with CNet System LLC and receive an invoice from another company you do not recognise, it may either be a scam email, or a mistake from a company that failed to discontinue their services when requested.

Internet scams are a very large problem today. It is common to see a legitimate looking email which appears to be an official document from the company stated, while in reality, it may be a scam email trying to get your information or money. These can appear to be from Ebay/Paypal, banks, or even the government. It’s important to look at the “from” field in the email, to make sure it originated from a legitimate source. It is also a good idea to check your address bar to make sure that any links you go to appear to be legitimate (such as paypal.com vs paypa1.com). These same precautions can also help prevent viruses and malware as well.

If you have internet services hosted with CNet System and you receive a bill from an unknown company regarding domains or hosting services, be aware that this type of email may be spam. Chances are, if you don’t know who it’s from, it’s safe to ignore it. If you are unsure of an unknown email, feel free to contact us with any questions you have regarding legitimacy.
